ZIFF 2024: ACP-EU Culture Supports Training for Young Filmmakers

During the 27th edition of the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF), the ACP-EU Culture program is sponsoring a master class for about thirty young Tanzanian filmmakers participating in the 19th International Youth Media Summit (IYMS). These participants will have the opportunity to learn the intricacies of independent film production, including the various contracts involved. The event will take place on August 3, 2024, at the Golden Tulip hotel in Stone Town, under the direction of Rama Thiaw, a renowned documentary filmmaker from Mauritania-Senegal.

This initiative is part of a partnership established between ZIFF and IYMS, aimed at motivating and inspiring the youth. For this 19th edition of the IYMS, 100 young filmmakers and activists from diverse backgrounds will gather to address pressing social issues such as discrimination, the environment, health, poverty, violence, women’s rights, and youth empowerment. They will work in teams to create films that will be showcased during the ZIFF award night, thereby highlighting cinema as a tool for social change.
