UNESCO World Conference: Arts, Culture, and Education Serving Sustainable Development

On the occasion of the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural and Artistic Education taking place from February 13th to 15th, 2024, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the European Network of Observatories in the Field of Arts and Cultural Education (ENO), the Arts and Cultural Education Network (ACEnet), the Organization of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS), and the European Union are organising a panel discussion entitled “Sustainable Development through Arts, Culture, and Education: Collaborations and Intersectoral Partnerships”.

This event, parallel to the conference, aims to highlight the essential link between culture and education, emphasizing their contribution to sustainable development. It will particularly examine education through and with arts and culture, and its impact on learning and society. The discussion will focus on successful partnerships and research initiatives, presenting concrete examples of successful initiatives as well as studies on the subject.

Among these studies is the recent study initiated by the ACP-EU Culture Programme, entitled “Shaping the Future: Arts, Culture, and Education as Drivers of Sustainable Development”, conducted at the request of the OACPS and the EU. Its objective is to raise awareness about the links between culture and education, providing innovative and tangible arguments on how synergy between these two sectors can accelerate sustainable development in ACP countries and beyond.
