The OACPS and the ACP-EU Culture Programme at EDD22

Are you attending the 2022 edition of the European Development Days? So are we!

What’s on?

  • Panel discussion: ‘E-learning Online & Offline with Cultural Literacy: Strengthening Peace, Education and Resilience of Vulnerable Youth’

The panel will focus on innovation in digital online/offline education to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities and improving cultural literacy for the youth in the digital era. Technology sometimes has mixed effects on society, but also opens unexpected opportunities, especially for reaching fragile and hard-to-reach communities. With the predominant place of digital technologies in our daily lives, the growing power of images, the multiplication of often unverified and oriented news with the social networks, the youth is confronted with media pressure and uncertain contents on which they form their opinions as citizens and future professionals. Digital education, including e-learning with a culture-based approach, can help changing the narratives in schools and universities by challenging cultural norms and stereotypes, strengthening critical thinking skills, and build dialogue, mutual understanding and restoring the dignity of victims of conflict.

Speakers, coming both from academia and civil society and active in culture, social transformation, international law and technological innovation, will discuss topical issues like peace education programmes, cultural literacy and education, education on trauma psycho-social support, education for second-generation victims, intra-religious dialogue.
