STARTS4AFRICA: Call for applications for innovative residencies

Don’t miss the call for applications for the STARTS4AFRICA residencies, the very first S+T+ARTS residency programme dedicated to promoting innovation in sub-Saharan Africa at the intersection of science, technology, and the arts.

Through STARTS4AFRICA, eight STARTS residencies will be funded and hosted by African institutions based in Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Tanzania.

To do so, applicants must demonstrate their ability and aptitude to provide support and resources such as access to various materials, technologies, and physical facilities. Additionally, candidates should show interest in the following topics:

• Food and water
• Digital mapping and speculative landscapes
• Culture and coding
• Wearable technology and smart textiles
• Immersive storytelling
• Rethinking sustainable construction
• Speculative urbanism

Selected host institutions will receive compensation of up to 25,000 EUR and will have access to other benefits.
