Online conference: Cultural heritage and multilateralism
From 16-18 November 2020, the German Federal Foreign Office, in cooperation with UNESCO, the European Commission and the Council of Europe, will host an international online conference, “Cultural Heritage and Multilateralism: Regional and international strategies for the protection of Cultural Heritage”.
The conference will give the floor to all relevant partners and aims to exchange views on the value of multilateralism for the protection of cultural heritage and vice versa. It will explore synergies and global challenges : the protection of cultural heritage on the regional and multilateral level, and take the occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1970 UNESCO Convention.
During three days, representatives of international organizations and experts from academia, the political sphere and civil society organizations will discuss mechanisms in fighting the trafficking in cultural property, sustainable development and heritage protection, or risk management.
