FESPACO: Presentation of the ACP-EU Culture

On 17 October 2021, an inaugural conference allowed the Head of Technical Assistance of the ACP-EU Culture Programme to present the different funding mechanisms in favour of audiovisual co-production and ACP cultural industries set up by the programme since 2020, alongside Mr. Wolfram Vetter, Head of the EU Delegation in Burkina.
The conference was followed by a long debate with the film professionals present in the room, who were interested in learning more about the cascade of funding granted by the ACP-EU Culture programme thanks to the partnership with existing co-production funds managed by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, the Fonds de Soutien à l’industries cinématographiques de Côte d’ivoire, the Centre national du Cinéma et de l’Image animée and the World Cinema Fund of the Berlinale.
This exchange made it possible to introduce a first panel at the beginning of the afternoon, devoted to the co-production funds supported by the ACP-EU Culture programme as well as several other funds active in particular in favour of African cinema. The panel allowed the representatives of the programme’s partner organisations to detail the functioning of their support funds, the modalities of access to funding, the calendar of calls for proposals and the results obtained to date.
