EU-Kenya Music Xchange

The Cultural Relations Platform, jointly with the EU Delegation to Kenya, will soon launch the EU-KENYA Music Xchange. Scheduled to take place in Nairobi from 3-6 October 2023, the event will help support Kenyan artists and foster collaborations aiming at strengthening the Kenyan sound at an international level.

Over the past 60 years, Kenya’s music sector has witnessed an impressive transformation, embarking on a long journey, enhancing the country’s cultural legacy, and aiming at the international music scene. The turn of the millennium has taken the Kenyan music industry to a new level, with the internet and social media providing unprecedented platforms for Kenyan artists to showcase their talent to a global audience. Yet, there is still a long way to go.

Aware of the potential of the Kenyan music industry, the Platform for Cultural Relations is committed to contributing to the success of the next generation of artists.

This is the background to the EU-Kenya Music Xchange. During the event, 13 local artists will embark on an adventure of musical growth and development. Throughout the programme, they will receive mentoring, training and advice from music industry professionals to help them reach new heights in their music careers. They will then reach the culmination of the programme and have the opportunity to perform on stage on the closing day of the event.

To follow the artists’ progress, follow the Cultural Relations Platform on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
