Deental: Results of the 5th call for projects in development of the Fonds Jeune Création Francophone

The Commission of the Fonds Jeune Création Francophone met on 1 July 2022 in Paris to select the projects in development. The committee was composed of Aurélien Bodinaux, Anne-Sophie Ducarme, Jihan El Tahri, Axel Guyot, Dani Kouyaté, Moussa Sene Absa and Marjorie Vella.
This year, of the 148 projects submitted for development, 88 were declared eligible, including 24 short films, 46 feature films and 18 series, from 17 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo DRC, Central African Republic, Chad, Gabon, Guinea, Haiti, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo). 30% of the projects are led by women.
At the end of the Commission, 11 projects were selected to benefit from development aid:
- 4 short films, 5 feature films and 2 series
- 5 documentaries, 4 fictions and 2 animations
- 3 projects are by women and 8 by men.
The projects supported this year will be accompanied by the following partner residencies: Atelier Sud écriture international (Tunisia), Association Docmonde – Haïtidocs (Haiti), C.L.O.S – Créations libres et originales du septième art (France), La Résidence des écritures francophones de La Rochelle (France), Groupe Ouest Développement (France), L’inis (Canada), NEF-Animation (France), Trégor Cinéma (France), Dox Box (Germany).

- L’Homme qui voulait se tuer et qui hésitait sur l’hymne de la tragédie à composer (The Man Who Wanted to Kill Himself and Who Hesitated on the Hymn of Tragedy to be Composed), fiction by Andriaminosoa Hary Joel RAKOTOVELO, (Madagascar).

The diversity and quality of the projects submitted were praised by the “Development Aid” selection committee.
