The 3rd edition of the Dakar International Short Film Festival started on December 7, 2020 in the Senegalese capital. Despite the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will host various round tables, training sessions and other practical workshops both face-to-face – at the French Institute – with full screening of films and professional events.
This year, the Jury – chaired by Malian filmmaker Souleymane Cissé – will award four prizes from a selection of 12 films from various African, European and South American countries (Brazil, Burkina Faso, France, Italy, Mali, Morocco, DR Congo and Senegal).
On the professional side, round tables are being organised by Unifrance and the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée and will cover topics such as VOD in Africa, exhibition and distribution in 2021, the transition from short to full-length films, and copyright and co-productions, among others.
The festival will end on 12 December.
