The Afropolitan Forum project aims to be a platform dedicated to the artistic and cultural expression of Afropeans in Belgium and Europe, their research and debates. In the long term, through the launch of an annual call for projects, the Afropolitan Forum aims to contribute to the establishment of new, more inclusive and sustainable relationships between its partners and the cultural institutions of Belgium.
The project is the result of a partnership between the Africa Museum and the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, funded by the Belgian Development Cooperation, and will run for a period of five years (2019–2023).
The call encourages the submission of proposals highlighting hybrid cultural activities contributing to one or more of the objectives of the BOZAR Afropolitan Forum programme, in one of the following disciplines: music; theatre and dance; literature; debates on art and society; art and research; workshops and participatory and/or educational activities.
Proposals related to the theme of the 20/21 season (Art & Well-being), to exhibition programmes, to the Afropolitan festival 2021 (theme: Women Power) or to other programmes are also welcome.
Projects must be implemented during the course of the 2020–2021 season (from September 2020 to June 2021), subject to the favourable development of the COVID-19 situation in relation to the opening of cultural venues.
Deadline for applications: 10 June 2020
