AuthenticA Series Lab is open for submissions

StoryBoard, in collaboration with the Realness Institute, has just opened  the submissions for the 3rd edition of the AuthenticA Series Lab, a pioneering programme designed specifically for African episodic screenwriters.

The AuthenticA Series Lab offers a unique opportunity for African storytellers to hone their craft under the guidance of experienced mentors and industry professionals. Presented in partnership with the Realness Institute, a non-profit organization based in South Africa, the lab aims to empower African creators to tell their stories from a distinctly African perspective.

Open to all African nationals, AuthenticA proposes a 6-month programme comprising a combination of online and in-person sessions, taking place from 08 September 2024 to 03 April 2025:

  • Residency in South Africa: 08-17 September 2024
  • Work from home with weekly online meetings: 18 September to 20 December 2024
  • Break: 23 December 2024 to 05 January 2025
  • Residency in Switzerland at the StoryBoard House: 20 January to 20 March 2025
  • Festival attendance and pitch at Series Mania (France): 21 March to 28 March 2025
  • Final debrief session at the StoryBoard House: 29 March – 03 April 2025

AuthenticA will offer four African screenwriters the unique opportunity to develop their original stories, of all genres, in episodic form. On their story development journey, they will be accompanied by Story Expert, Selina Ukwuoma, and Creative Producer, Dr. Mehret Mandefro.
