A global call to put cultural solutions at the heart of climate action

On 28 September 2023, artists and cultural actors from around the world joined forces to call on negotiators at the United Nations Climate Conference (COP) to place cultural heritage, the arts and creative sectors at the heart of climate action. This appeal was made at the European Cultural Heritage Summit held in Venice, Italy, as part of the European Heritage Centre’s Forum “Reinventing the Anthropocene: Putting Culture and Heritage at the Heart of the Climate”.

More specifically, they called for a “joint working decision on culture and climate action”, a United Nations initiative aimed at putting in place policies and frameworks that would enable culture to play a central role in climate solutions.
