Biennale 2020: EU continues support for world cinema

In the framework of the Venice Mostra del Cinema and the Venice Production Bridge, the European Commission is organising an interactive session on cinema and audiovisual entitled EU for the future of World Cinema on 6 September.

This event, organised in cooperation with the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), will be an opportunity to present the new support mechanism for audiovisual co-production between ACP and EU production companies, funded by the ACP-EU Culture Programme.

Also participating in the session, the programme’s partners – the World Cinema Fund (WCF), the Conseil national du cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC), the Organisation internationale de la francophonie (OIF) and the Fonds de soutien à l’industrie cinématographique (FONSIC) – will announce the first selected projects, while the European Commission and the OACPS will present the mechanism and the new calls for projects planned for short and feature films, documentaries and finally TV and web series.

A second panel discussion entitled From Kabul to Bamako : a journey through the rich culture of countries struggling against violence, displacement and instability, will present the production opportunities available to the creative and audiovisual industry in a series of particularly complex but culturally rich countries along the imaginary line from Kabul to Bamako; from Afghanistan through Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Eritrea, Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, to Mali. The preparation of a new call for projects will be announced there.
